Some dishwashing detergents may cause silicone tableware to hold on to certain smells. In no way is this a risk to your munchkin! Avoid dish soap that contains fragrances, essential oils, antibacterial agents and moisturisers. Oils can stick onto silicone materials and may cause build up.
To prevent this from happening in the first place, we recommend cleaning your We Might Be Tiny on the steam or dry setting when using your dishwasher. Giving our products enough space within your dishwasher will also help to rinse the detergent off thoroughly.
Here are a few tips to remove the soapy smell:
- add a dash of white vinegar or a non-toxic rinse aid to your wash cycle
- rub a fresh lemon or lime all over the silicone, sit for 15 minutes, then rinse with soapy non-oil based water
- instead of using a dishwasher tablet, use baking soda
